The requalification project focused on two key aspects: afforestation, with an increase in tree density and the planting of new trees to establish a new boundary for the park, and the reorganisation of paths and access points to reconnect the park to the city and the various surrounding neighbourhoods (Quadraro Don Bosco, Alessandrino, Tuscolano, Centocelle, Prenestino Labicano).

The park requalification project aimed at giving a strategic space back to the city, consequently improving the environmental quality of a vast urban area. The project involved creating new green infrastructure and restoring the landscape, including new sports and recreational services and facilities. Special attention was paid to re-purposing the former petrol station between Via Casilina and Viale Palmiro Togliatti, and it now serves as an important access point from the Line C metro stop.

In the project's initial phase, around 500 trees were planted to create an ‘urban wood’ and a children’s playground was installed. At the same time, plans were drawn up to create new routes and access points, including those on Via di Centocelle, Viale Togliatti and Via Santi Romano.

The works included the construction of a large playground on an existing landing strip. Measuring over 350 metres in length and 23 metres in width, the strip was completely resurfaced with coloured water-permeable materials that divided it into a series of areas equipped for various activities: two fitness areas where workout equipment was installed, including a rowing machine, a chest press machine, elliptical cross trainers for legs and arms, and a shoulder press machine. Next, an area was fitted out with four table tennis tables, two Pilates areas, a yoga area, two pickleball courts, a volleyball court, a basketball court and two street basketball courts. Near the playground, a space where the neighbourhood's foreign communities previously played cricket has been redeveloped as an integral part of the park’s sports facilities.

The park has also been fitted with a new green piazza and a new car park.

The green piazza, covering an area of approximately 4,500, features non-slip paving with water features for cooling off in summer. This is fed by a rainwater collection and recirculation system to prevent waste. New benches were placed around the perimeter, and green areas were created with ground cover plants, flowers and shrubs. Furthermore, around 600 new trees were planted throughout the area (maples, poplars, plane trees, ash trees, mulberry trees, oaks, Judas trees, downy oaks, privets, camphor trees, eucalyptus and holm oaks).

To complete the works, the car park was moved to a disused area of approximately 5,000 square metres on Via Casilina, separated from the park’s paths. Here too, new trees (plane trees, poplars, holm oaks and camphor trees) were planted to provide adequate shade. The lawns and trees are watered using water from a recently restored well.

The disused railway line has been repurposed as a botanical walk and cycle path, with access to the underground tunnels via new entrances and guided tours. The abandoned railway cutting has been turned into a ‘natural monument’ offering remarkable biodiversity, and providing even more valuable space within the park.
