Centocelle East tram depot

Implementing party

Roma Capitale

Project description

The intervention involves the renovation and expansion of the east area of the Centocelle tram depot, currently serving the formerly granted Termini Laziali-Giardinetti railway line. The goal is to increase and optimise the depot capacity, expected for 36 vehicles, through interventions on equipment and buildings in order to make them more functional.

The works will include the demolition of the existing equipment, systems and buildings, and then provide for the construction of the new box, tracks and turnouts, with attached bumpers. At the same time, the adaptation activities of the existing inspection pits will be started, which will not interfere from a spatial point of view with the equipment works because they will have a considerably shorter duration.

Once these phases are completed, it will be possible to proceed with the construction of the new buildings, namely:

1) Building used for depot/changing room, replacing the existing one;

2) Tram washing tunnel;

3) Tram inspection building (workshop) placed next to the existing one and with the same plan configuration.

The intervention will ensure the technological and structural adaptation of the depot, improving the overall functionality of the line.
