Black Points (solution interventions for critical points of road safety)
Implementing party

Project description
The administration of Roma Capitale intends to address the high rates of road accidents through an accurate analysis and the definition of different intervention priorities. This approach aims to improve responsiveness in emergency situations and timely intervention for various road problems. For this purpose, specific offices for road safety have been created and several "Black Points" have been identified as the most dangerous intersections. This process will be guided from top to bottom, managing priorities in a hierarchy according to different variables, not solely limited to financial aspects. The planned interventions will range from the optimisation of trajectories to the control and reduction of speeds by means of horizontal, vertical, or illuminated signage. In addition, light infrastructural improvements will be made, such as the reorganisation of road edges and curbs, increased safety for pedestrian crossings, and the optimisation of car parks. The interventions will include the revision of traffic regulations and, if necessary, a heavy reconfiguration of road infrastructure through the use of underpasses, roundabouts, or ramps. In addition, specific technological solutions for the control of traffic lights and compliance with speed limits will be considered.
