Autonomy of young people

Implementing party

Roma Capitale

Project description

The project is aimed at young adults who leave the accommodation facilities for minors without family contacts, with the goal of supporting them towards full working and living autonomy. The program provides for the creation of plans to overcome contingent situations and the activation of social inclusion projects.

In Rome, in 2022, there were an estimated 42,795 residents between 0 and 17 years of age, of which 665 (221 between 15 and 17 years of age) were removed from their family of origin and placed in residential communities, while 440 (134 between 15 and 17 years of age) are in heterosexual foster care. There are about 106 boys and girls who at the age of 18 remain in charge of the territorially competent social services, of whom 37 have concluded a family foster care and 69 have concluded the path in the community for minors.

The path will be developed in the following macro areas of reference:

  1. promote educational and vocational training courses to support autonomy in study and access to the world of work;
  2. fostering integration into the world of work through targeted placement and stimulating the birth of new economic companies as innovative Start Ups;
  3. facilitate paths of housing autonomy through programs that provide for the accommodation in apartments of a maximum of 5 new adults of both genders, aged between 18 and 21, for a period of 12 months, which can be extended for another 12 months. After this period, the conditions for full ownership of the rental agreement or inclusion in a co-housing group will be created.
