Maintenance and refunctionalization of the sluice system in the Magliana - Marconi area
Implementing party
Project description
The intervention involves the maintenance and refunctionalization of the sluice system in the Magliana – Marconi area. The aim is to improve the management of hydraulic risk in the southern area of Rome, ensuring safety especially during flood events. The sluice gates are in a particularly degraded state due to invasive vegetation, corrosion of metal parts, and sediment deposits that affect their operation. During the design phase, a detailed hydraulic study will be conducted to determine the actual flow rates affecting the ditches and channels of the Magliana - Marconi main drainage system. Additionally, measures will be taken to identify a system to protect the facilities from tampering or theft, and the potential for automation through remote monitoring
The planned works include:
removal of spontaneous vegetation manually or using mechanical means in the sluice area;
removal of invasive vegetation on embankments using mechanical means;
routine and extraordinary maintenance of the sluice, including testing the operation of their motors and mechanical parts;
repair and replacement of worn-out components;
restoration of the functionality of the sluice gates and supply channels;
renovation and maintenance of the hydraulic structures of the sluice system.
