PNRR Investment 3.1, 'Protection and enhancement of urban and extra-urban forestation', involves forestation projects within the Metropolitan City of Roma Capitale. The goal is to improve air quality, mitigate climate change effects, and fight biodiversity loss for the benefit of citizens' health and well-being.

The project dedicated to the north-central coastal section includes a forestation intervention in the Acque Rosse area (Municipality X) within the territory of Roma Capitale. This covers an area of approximately 18 hectares, with 18,000 new plants being planted. In this area, the prevailing species include field maple, ash, Turkey oak, holm oak, and downy oak, as well as English oak, shrubs, privet, mock privet, myrtle, mastic tree, and juniper. The area has been cleared of waste, and failed plants (beating up) have already been replaced.

To ensure the effectiveness of the interventions, the investment includes a 5-year cultivation plan based on the replacement of dead plants, ordinary and extraordinary irrigation, protection of young saplings, mowing, and the control of invasive alien species.
