Project description
A series of extraordinary maintenance and structural strengthening works were carried out on the access stairways leading to the banks of the Tiber River within the urban section, with the aim of ensuring their structural integrity and improving public safety.
The stairways showed separation between the steps and the parapets, as well as general deterioration caused by vegetation growth. The works included the restoration and replacement of travertine steps and paving slabs, the removal of vegetation, and the installation of rapidly deployable flood gates to restrict access in the event of river flooding.
