15 Minutes Programme – IX Municipality Spinaceto
Implementing party
Project description
The Spinaceto district is located in the south-western part of Rome, within the Municipality IX, in a flat area enclosed by the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA), between via Pontina and via di Mezzocammino, about 12 km from the city centre. Its strong identity - developed since the 1960s - has steered the design interventions in the direction of meaningful strategies.
First of all, the neighbourhood was recognised as a point of connection between the green areas of the coast and the densely populated urban area, with the aim of enhancing the natural environment, focusing on the countryside park, and integrating the ecological network with the building structures. Another relevant aspect is related to the promotion of sustainable mobility, in this sense pedestrian and cycling routes will be implemented, in combination with interventions to improve traffic and road safety.
Another aspect concerns the services offered to the community, the objective is to make them more accessible and identifiable, encouraging the participation of citizens in decision-making processes.
As for the main street of the neighbourhood, it will be renovated to make it more suitable for local and pedestrian use, with the aim of connecting open spaces, services and the park.
In detail, the first planned intervention concerns the improvement of Largo Nicolò Cannella.
