Taking charge of Roma and Sinti families in the area of Salone

Implementing party

Roma Capitale

Project description

The project aims to overcome the so-called "Campi System" and to promote an integrated management of the Roma and Sinti families of the Areas of Candoni, Gordiani, Lombroso, Salone, Salviati.

The initiative focuses on strengthening services dedicated to the individual, and on creating a synergy and integration between work, housing, education, health and culture.

Innovation in the services is made possible thanks to the close collaboration with Third Sector Entities, through a co-design process involving public and private entities (territorial agreements, city local health authorities, research institutes, universities and other organisations).

Among the specific interventions envisaged by the project, the following should be noted:

  • regularisation of documents. The project provides for initiatives aimed at regularising the documents of the people involved, thus helping to guarantee their legal identification and easier access to services and opportunities;
  • Diversified Housing solutions. Tailor-made housing solutions will be developed, taking into account the specific needs of households, in order to provide adequate and sustainable housing;
  • access to Social Health Services. The project aims to facilitate the access of the people involved to social-health services, guaranteeing them assistance and access to essential medical care;
  • School awareness. Awareness activities will be conducted in schools to promote knowledge of and respect for the cultural specificities of the Roma and Sinti communities. In addition, the training of the school staff will be fostered to promote an inclusive environment;
  • strengthening of Education and Work Opportunities. The project provides for the strengthening of training programs, internships, apprenticeships and skills certifications for the people involved, offering them opportunities for learning and professional growth.

In addition, a crucial component of the project will be the testing of a Social Impact Assessment system, which will make it possible to concretely and objectively measure the effectiveness of the initiatives in generating tangible social benefits for the communities involved. The goal is to create a model of intervention that not only addresses current challenges, but also contributes to promoting the well-being and integration of these communities in the long term.
