C2 Lunghezza Area Plan Nursery School
Implementing party
Project description
The project is designed following the patio typology, consisting of a square with a central pivot, on the sides of which are the service rooms, offices and children's sections.
The greenhouse will be a space with a dual function, in summer it will help expel hot air and in winter it will contribute to heating the building.
The building will be completely insulated from the ground thanks to a basement room, accessible and ventilated, with access from outside via stairs adjacent to the service area. The load-bearing structure will consist of a reinforced concrete frame cage, while the roof will have a glued laminated timber structure, consisting of eight large rafters that will start from the centre and, in a radial pattern, will reach the supports placed at the corners of the building.
The external glazing will provide a significant source of light and, at the same time, provide a visual link with the landscape, creating continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. Protection from direct sunlight will be provided by a sunshade pergola made of laminated wood and keller-type gratings.
The following spaces will be present:
- 3 sections, each organised into separate areas for resting, living and cleaning;
- multi-purpose indoor space for communal activities (canteen);
- greenhouse distribution node;
- disabled toilet;
- kitchen group, pantry and staff services;
- rooms for the assistant, secretariat and management;
- room with service for the doctor;
- atrium and connective spaces;
- changing rooms and staff facilities.
All outdoor spaces will be paved and equipped with a rainwater collection system. Hot water will be supplied by means of solar panels placed on the south-side aquifer. The gas heating system will be provided with a heat pump. The meters (water, gas and electricity) will be placed in a wall niche near the main entrance. The nursery will be positioned so that outdoor activities will not be interfered with in any way from outside, thanks to a hedge that will run along the entire border fence.
The design proposal envisages the use of artificial flooring materials with low reflectivity, and solar absorption (to avoid overheating) preferably with anti-shock character (for safety). The planting of holm oaks and maples will be planned, to fulfil aesthetic, landscaping, shading, air pollution filtering and traffic noise abatement functions.
