Caput Mundi: Villa Sciarra – Fountains and artistic furniture. Restoration of statues and sculptural groups

Project description
The intervention provided for the restoration and enhancement of the 22 sculptural works inside Villa Sciarra. The works concerned were the following:
- Satyr with vase, on the left;
- Satyr with vase, on the right;
- The Astronomy;
- Cycle of the months (12 sculptures each representing a month);
- The Dawn;
- Column-bearing lion, on the left;
- Column-bearing lion, on the right;
- The Astrology;
- Pan and Syrinx;
- Apollo and Daphne;
- Putti with goat.
The restoration activities included the following operations:
- securing of unsafe areas;
- chemical and mechanical surface cleaning, with removal of limestone concretions;
- disinfection and removal of invasive weeds;
- reinforcement, testing and integration of plastering;
- treatment of oxidised metal parts;
- remaking portions of sculptures and lost physiognomic elements;
- aesthetic overhaul;
- application of final protective coating.
