Caput Mundi: Villa Sciarra – Fountains and artistic furniture. Restoration of the Fountain of Putti and the Fountains of the Southern Sector

The group of six fountains included in the intervention are part of the northern sector of the Villa:
- Fountain of Putti (mixtilinear basin with central group and bottom with sculptures);
- Turtle Fountain (basin with sculptural group);
- Fountain of the Deadly Sins or Sphinxes (basin with baluster and central sculptures);
- Fountain of the sarcophagus and mask (sarcophagus against wall);
- Round fountain (rustic round fountain);
- Snail Fountain (basin with sculptural group).
The intervention included the following activities:
- securing of unsafe areas;
- chemical and mechanical surface cleaning;
- removal of limestone concretions;
- disinfection and removal of invasive weeds;
- reinforcement, testing and integration of plastering;
- treatment of oxidised metal parts;
- remaking portions of sculptures and lost physiognomic elements;
- restoration of sculptures or sculptural details currently stored in warehouses;
- aesthetic overhaul;
- application of final protective coating;
- finishing the waterproofing of tanks.
