Caput Mundi: Villa Sciarra - Belvedere complex with fountains, loggia and wall on Via Calandrelli
Implementing party
Project description
The project involves a series of works aimed at restoring and consolidating the monumental complex.
Planned activities include the clearing of invasive weeds and inspections to identify and secure unsafe parts.
A low-pressure washing will be carried out to clean the surfaces, and reinforcement techniques will be adopted to enhance the stability of affected surfaces and structures. The restoration will involve the surfaces, decorative elements, mouldings, “rocailles” and stone elements. Additionally, the water system of the Nymphaeum and the gush of the Vasca con Puttini will be reactivated.
The elements of the decorative apparatus currently preserved in the Capitoline Museums will be identified, recovered and restored to be reinstalled in the complex. The peperino covers, partitions and columns will be overhauled and integrated. Further activities will include the cleaning of the two entrance portals and the biocidal treatment of summit herms.
